Current Trend

iPhone 7 Plus (128GB) sees an increase in price in January to $320 before dropping back to $260.

The adjustment in price is inevitable as rumors of a low budget iPhone are due to release soon. The news causes some buyers to hold on to their purchase for a wait-and-see approach. The new phone is said to be an iPhone SE replacement (could be branded as iPhone 9), which may be price below $700.

Apple last released the iPhone SE in 2017, and it has since been three years after the launch of the low-cost phone.

iPhone 9 speculated design closely resembled iPhone 8.
In 2017, when Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the iPhone X, critics scoffed at the high price positioning and removal of the iPhone signature ‘Touch ID’ button. However, Apple fans think otherwise and rush to snap up the phone despite the expensive price tag.

Fast forward to 2020, iPhone remains a hot favorite in the used phone market. Being the first phone to use the Face ID technology, it has not run out of steam and still command a high demand for it. The used phone buy-back price has remained stable for a solid three months now, proving the superiority of Apple branding.

Samsung has announced two exciting models – Galaxy Z (a folding phone) and Galaxy S20 series (Flagship model).

Customers who upgrade to the new models cause a surge in the sell-off volume of the S9 and S10. S9 and S9+ were two generations back. Even though we notice an increase in the supply of this model, there was no significant drop in the buy-back price.

On the other hand, S10 and S10+ series have a slight dip in the buy-in price during this period, but that did not deter the sellers from monetizing their device.

Another two brands also make into the top ten list – Oppo Reno Z and Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

Both phones were superior in their functions and were able to meet the demand for below $400 handphone market. Both their buy-back price remains constant in February.
