Current Trend

October sees a mix of ups and downs for prices of used phone buy-back prices.

iPhone X (256GB) remains the top trade-in model for Sept and Oct. The buy-back value of $660 still proves to be attractive despite the price slides $80 within a month.

iPhone X (64GB) took the third spot with a value of $580. Most iPhone X users intend or already upgrade to iPhone 11.

With buy-back price up to $660, the amount is pretty substantial to use to subsidize the purchase of the newly launched iPhones.

iPhone X
We notice an interesting trend which sees iPhone 7 Plus and 8 Plus has an increase in value across all the respective models.

In particularly, iPhone 8 Plus has the highest growth in value of $50.

This indicates that many used phone buyers are still looking out for budget handset with a large screen within the range of $300 - $600

This demand for larger screens extended to Android phones as well.

We see a stabilizing of buy-back price for Android phones with screen size 5.5” and above, like Samsung Note 9 and Huawei P30 Pro.

We expect the demand for large screen size phone continues to dominate the pre-owned mobile market due to higher consumption of online video content.
Samsung Note 9

We did not see many iPhone XS or XS Max users selling their handset to upgrade to iPhone 11.

Only iPhone XS Max (256GB) made it to the chart, with buy-back value for $920. It is a generous amount despite the fact that new set is only selling at $1,355 (Price via iprice.sg)
